I-Cubs Sweep Beavers

The Iowa Cubs swept the Portland Beavers with a 5-2 victory Tuesday afternoon at Principal Park. Four Iowa pitchers combined for 15 strikeouts in the victory. Starter Kevin Hart did not factor in the decision, but struck out six in four innings of work. Winning pitcher Mike Burns threw three innings, striking out five while allowing one run. Jose Ascanio struck out the side to pick up his ninth save and Neal Cotts struck out one in one inning of relief. The Cubs have an off day today but return to action Thursday in Texas against the Round Rock Express.
