Hoef Named To ESPN All-District First Team

Iowa baseball junior Kevin Hoef has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District first team. The announcement came Thursday. Hoef will now be on the national ballot for academic all-America honors. The Hawkeye third baseman boasts a 3.72 cumulative GPA and is a pre-business major. Hoef is batting .340 and has amassed 55 hits, 46 runs, 26 RBI, 14 stolen bases, 17 walks, 3 home runs and an Iowa single-season-record 18 hit-by-pitches. The native of Troy, IL, ranks first in the Big Ten and seventh nationally in hit-by-pitches this season. Furthermore, he has accumulated an Iowa school-record 47 hit-by-pitches. Hoef was an academic all-Big Ten honoree last season. The Hawkeyes travel to University Park, PA, this weekend for a four-game series against Penn State.
