The eighth ranked Wartburg Knights picked up another milestone victory yesterday to open their appearance at the Augustana College regional bracket of the 2008 NCAA Division III tournament. The Knights, with their 4-0 win over Alma College of Michigan, hit the 30-win mark for the fifth consecutive season under the tutelage of head coach Kara Kehe. Freshman second baseman Jenni Hashman of Cedar Falls powered a pair of two-run home runs over the fence to highlight the decision. Hashman’s two round trippers, putting her at six for the season, were more than enough for the combination of sophomore Abi Robison of Crawfordsville and junior Angela Hartwig of Mount Pleasant on the mound. Robison, upping her record to 9-2, kept the Scots off balance for the first four frames, surrendering only two hits and striking out two. Hartwig, gaining her fourth save, concluded the contest with three innings of no-hit work and struck out seven. The victory takes Wartburg, the second seed at the Augustana regional, into a 4 p.m. game this afternoon against third-seeded UW-Whitewater. The Warhawks tripped up sixth-seeded Coe 9-1.
